Signet ring finger, hand and ways to wear a signet ring
The way a signet ring is worn, depends heavily on the family tradition and the customs of your country. In some countries in Europe, like the Netherlands, a signet ring is normally worn on the ring finger of the left hand. It is also possible to wear the ring on the finger of either hand. In the United Kingdom it is quite custom to wear the ring on the pinky finger. But also this is not strict.
The ring can be worn upwards or downwards. The image is traditionally worn down (upside down); some people say that this because in practice, is the easiest to use the ring when the seal ring is used for creating a wax imprint. But one also sees that the ring is taken off and reversed when it is used for sealing.
